Before starting

• Wear walking shoes and clothing suitable for the forecast.
• Bring a fully charged smartphone; a portable charger is recommended.
• Tell the host about mobility, hearing, vision, language, or other access needs before starting.
• Guests aged 18 or over may make their own booking and participate independently. High school students under 18 may book and participate without an accompanying adult once consent from a parent or legal guardian has been verified. For junior high school students and younger children, an adult guardian must make the booking and accompany them throughout the route.

On the route

• Never look at the screen while crossing a road or walking through traffic.
• Do not stop in vehicle lanes, cycle lanes, narrow entrances, areas in front of shops, or entrances to private property.
• Move to the safe viewing spot shown in the atlas before opening an AR encounter.
• No clue requires trespassing, touching a building, moving an object, photographing a prohibited area, or speaking to a resident.
• Religious and cultural rules always take priority over the game.

Heat, rain, and emergencies

Pause in shelter if conditions deteriorate. In extreme heat, take frequent breaks and carry water. Follow official warnings and host instructions. For an immediate emergency in Japan, call 119 for ambulance or fire services and 110 for police. Then contact the host when safe to do so.

Accessibility

The full experience takes about three hours and is completed on foot. It includes stone paving, slopes, and stairs.
Some parts of the route do not have a step-free alternative.
The experience can be completed without audio. No step requires you to distinguish between colours.
If AR is unavailable, all essential steps can be completed using the 2D version.
If you need assistance, tell us in the booking notes or speak to staff before starting.

If a feature does not work

If the camera, card recognition, or 3D display does not work, use the 2D version in the atlas. If you lose your connection, keep your paper kit and contact support when it is safe to do so.
